The couple I am doing is MFJ, and the wife's mother is living in the house and has adjectives the past year...She's 81, blind and totally disabled. Has SS income of $3800, and interest income of
$3375...Can she be claimed as a dependent?...I can't quite remember

I see that if gross income is over $3300, then the person does not qualify as a dependent unless she is totally disabled. In this bag she is totally disabled so she is a dependent.
As far as reporting SS income, there ARE some cases where it must be included contained by income. A worksheet must be used to determine how much of it is taxable.
