VAT Charges on an invoice?

I have written an invoice for a company I hold been working for - on the invoice I own included some expenses.

I am unsure if I should charge VAT on these expenses. The expenses are for travel at 40p per mile and for food at lb10 per night away from home.

Should I charge VAT resting on the charge.

I am VAT registered on the flat rate scheme.

Answers:    Probably not, unless it's integrated into the prices...

...it's other easier to charge it INCLUSIVE of VAT and let them any A) deal next to getting their VAT back if applicable or B) ask you "does that include VAT"...and you vote NO...and get another 17.5% 'free'.
The travel is vat charged, the food if bought to munch through out (take away) is not, but food eaten surrounded by (such as restaurant) is. So charge VAT 17% on these. But remember the VAT will be included in the price on your receipts.
