Earned income credit?
I just received a dispatch saying that I enjoy been recertified for EIC and that I will receive my EIC discount within six weeks. I enjoy already received my federal refund is this something different? I received my federal return earlier end month and this letter come today, I am very curious to know what is going on. Thanks
Answers: If you claimed the EIC and received the compensation that you were expecting, be VERY suspicious of any correspondence claiming that you will receive any additional money from the IRS. Do NOT telephone the number in the memo, call 1-8OO-TAX-1040 to verify what is contained by the letter.
If you received smaller number than what you were expecting next the IRS is just describing you that the rest is on its way. The IRS looks particularly closely at EIC claims due to extensive fraud and will often bottleneck the EIC portion of your refund until the complete their investigation.
At any rate, whenever you receive a dispatch or phone call claiming to be from the IRS, ALWAYS verify it by calling 1-8OO-TAX-1040 if any different number is tabled in the message or given to you by the caller. NEVER contribute out any personal information to ANY other phone number!
