If your contractor did not report the income that they rewarded you surrounded by 2005 to the irs, consequently at hand's no mode that the irs will find out roughly it, unless you enlighten the irs. My suggestion to you would be to be honest and report the amount of income that you received (add up adjectives the currency & checks that you get and report that amount), but it's your choice what to do.
Legally, as self-employed you be required to hold flawless paperwork of your income so you could report an accurate toll return. When you are an hand, your employer keep track and sends you a W-2 at the end of the year showing everything. As a self-employed personality, you are the one responsible, whether you procure a 1099 or not.
But if you didn't do that, around adjectives you can do presently is estimate as closely as possible what you be compensated, and report that amount on your diary C and the hand wages directly on your 1040.
If you don't database the self-employment income and they find out following, you'll owe deeply more money that you will if you do it very soon, for more interest and penalty.
The IRS will ask you to steep out a form stating what you "think" you made. Not that'd I'd urge trying to take in the gov't however... If the employer never file taxes (therefore never reported the 1099 income) you are OK and they'll never know. Just profile similar to you know zilch nearly it. If the IRS know give or take a few the 1099 income (he did file) you'll win a "corrected" excise return as their computer will pick it up. Unless you are Wesley Snipes trying to avoid millions in taxes they won't do anything. Maybe a 10% cost and monthly interest.
Damn IRS.
You are responsible for paying your taxes and keeping archives of your income. Sorry. There are penalty for your employer for not sending in your 1099. If you made lower than $600, he is not required to grant you a 1099 but you are requried to report it on your income toll. I didn't vote this but to resolve the issue, I would record short reporting the income that be not reported. If the IRS have no dictation, what else can you do and at this time the IRS can do nil to you? As self employed, why didn't you keep hold of documents of income and adjectives your expenses. You wage on web income not gross. Approach your second employer for a copy of your W-2 and he should make available it to you. I hope your first employer doesn't come rear, but afterwards he might enjoy substantial fines for not file the proper 1099s should they ever arrest up to him.
