Answers:    There's reasonably a few. The best thing you could do would be to stir into business. If you do not want to form a corporation, you could launch a sole proprietorship. There are a lot of expenses that you can reduce by the business portion thereof so long as you keep detailed and extraordinarily accurate records. Presently, you can reduce by none of these expenses. Don't know your income, but, if you're subject to alternative minimum tax, you could lose some of that speculation to buy, build or improve your home.

A lot of itemized deduction are in the IRS Publication 17, the instructions for the agenda A, and, of course surrounded by the instructions for Schedule C, Schedule E, Schedule F {farmers and fishermen}, 1120 { "C" corporations}, 1120-S {"S" corporations and 1165 {partnerships}. Begin reading and you will get better as the years move about on. You will also get better contained by organizing your receipts and documents and keeping a text of your expenses.
The only in plain sight one, not knowing more about your situation, is that you are very soon allowed to deduct mortgage insurance premiums. However, this just applies to mortgages entered into between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2008 (unless congress extends it further).

There are also some deduction for casualty losses if you had losses this year due to things resembling theft or weather despoil, but these are usually very tough to claim unless you have a terribly large loss (i.e. your house burning down).

Hope this help.
pmi may qualify, also personal property taxes and certain amounts for vehicle license.
