Proper Tax Documentation?
For next years taxes I am probably going to itemize because I enjoy alot of business expenses. I am in sale and I work out of my home 2-3 days a week so I am keeping track of expenditures, things such as: water, trash, electricity, internet, phone. I am also documenting mileage on my vehicle when I go on appointments, gas for the sports car, tune ups, oil change, etc. Also, any personal expenditures such as hair cuts, suits, ties, shoes, cell phone. What is proper documentation of these items? i am tracking contained by an excel file and keeping adjectives receipts.

I hold some general information for you.
Are you an member of staff? If yes, does your employer provide an office for you? If yes, next you probably don't have qualified home bureau and cannot deduct any expenses of working from home. A home bureau has to be for the "convenience of the employer" not the member of staff. Just because you choose to work out of your home sometime doesn't make it a qualified home organization. The test is "exclusively and regularly"
You can give somebody a lift auto expenses either standard mileage OR actual expenses, not both. If you choose actual expenses breed sure to include depreciation on the car. You will still entail to keep track of not purely business mileage, but personal mileage as well. You have need of to know total mileage to get the business % to multiply adjectives expenses by to get your business use %.
You cannot take off hair cuts, suits, ties or shoes. The single time you can deduct clothing is if it is a uniform of some species. Usually this is when the company logo is on them.
Usually on cell phones you can only reduce by business calls. Keep a log of adjectives calls and reduce by only those call. Not the standard monthly fee. If you hold a business cell phone, you can deduct the adjectives thing, but label sure you don't make or receive personal call on that phone.
receipts and proof of purchase-dont frget meals too.! Good Luck!
