Ontario Taxes: Contract or Permanent?
Hi in that,
I am considering a situation opportunity that could allow me to be a contractor or irrevocable. I've be given the dent over the years, that it's more lucrative to turn the contractor route.
First cross-question: which is more lucrative?
Second sound out: Would you know how to provide me beside the details of the taxes that I should help yourself to into consideration when I'm negotiate my compensation (i.e. GST, federal taxes, adjectives taxes, etc.).
Thanks a bunch!

First of adjectives, consider cooperatively what they are suggesting. In standard, if your relationship next to the company is alike when you are a contractor as when you are an hand, you may still be considered an member of staff by CRA, if at some point your employer have their payroll chronicles examined - a ruling would be done to determine your eligibility for CPP/EI, and they would retroactively determine you to be an hand.
This can wreak havoc on your taxes, since you wouldn't be eligible for any deduction anymore.
I'm not sure if your relationship would be exchangeable, but base on your comment that you own the choice, I'm lately suggesting you proceed beside tell. You should look objectively at the relationship between you and the employer.
Could you set your own hours? Could you subcontract the chore out (if you are working for yourself you repeatedly can do the work yourself or enjoy your own organization execute parts of the job)? Is in that any financial risk for you in running this business? Do you own to suppy your own tools, computer, etc? Will you be working from home, or will you enjoy to work for them at their business?

No EI - if you lose your chore because of monetary downturn, you cannot claim EI when you work for yourself. You don't foot into the plan any, though
CPP - fairly than have CPP deduct from your repay, you will own to income your CPP directly to CRA near your income taxes. You will enjoy to clear twice as much CPP, as you are essentially responsible for both the "employer" and the "employee" portions when you are self employed.
Income taxes - you will not enjoy these deduct at source if you are self employed. You will call for to remit these directly to the CRA. You will probable be asked to remit quarterly after you record your subsequent rates return.
