Are professional organizations/membership fees rates deductable?

I am a full time employee of a non profit hospital and own independently joined a professional managing (health care related). The hospital can't reimburse me , but can I use the fees as a excise deduction? Dues are 150/year plus 25-50 dollars/event.

Answers:    Depends, do you itemize your taxes? Then yes, on your diary A. Otherwise no. They figure everyone have expenses and dues and deductions, and unless yours are over the standard assumption $5100, it's not worthwhile to itemize. Events probably aren't deductible.
Yes, if you itemize (Schedule A) it is limited to 2% of your on the same wavelength gross income. Look down towards the bottom of a Schedule A and you'll see where alliance dues and such are reported.
