I work as an independent contractor. (1099)?

The company the I work for is base out of Oregon. I live within Washington. I do work in both states.

The request for information is, If I close a concordat contained by the state of Washington do I own to recompense Oregon state income tariff? Keep surrounded by mind that the company contracts me is base contained by Oregon.

Answers:
If you do work contained by both states afterwards you would enjoy income in both states. I would reflect that the 1099 you receive for the buy and sell would say-so which state it's for. That would be the state that you'd be tax for. You might also own the armour where on earth you'd enjoy to database a non-resident Oregon return, and report your income earn surrounded by Oregon, but go and get a credit from Washington for the income toll you salaried to Oregon. It wouldn't be a $ for $ credit though, it would be the lessor of any the Oregon excise liability or the equivalent Washington excise on the income (example, Oregon rates is 1,000, Washington export tax on same income is 1,500, your credit would be 1,000. Oregon toll is 1,000, Washington charge on same income is 500, credit would be 500). They bring you no event what.
You might hold to report import tax returns for both states and if you do enjoy to include the income from Washington in that should be a place for a credit for those taxes compensated.
Washington doesn't hold state income toll, Oregon does. The request for information is, where on earth did you do the actual work? If the work is done within Oregon, after you would hold to clear Oregon taxes on that income, as an out of state resident. If you did the work in Washington, next you would not database state income due so the income is import tax free.

My comprehension of it is base on where on earth you did the work, not where on earth you signed the contract. Check next to the Oregon Department of Revenue to confirm it however, newly to be out of danger.

(I lived within Oregon and worked contained by both Washington and Oregon as an independent contractor, so I'm adapted next to your dilema)
