Back taxes for state - don't live within any more...?
We received a rates bill for 2005 from Michigan within the amout of $6,000. While I'm not even sure whether or not that money is in actual fact owed to switch on near, the primary concern I own is this:
The communication advise that they could accessories wages, put a toll lein on any property we owned, or confiscate money from sandbank accounts if we don't income it without delay.
Unfortunately, my husband and I are both on the dole right presently (both out of a job ahead of time this summer). So, in attendance are no wages to frills. And, after a few months of dismissal, reserves sketch have dwindled - at hand isn't really anything not here here for them to embezzle. What little we hold disappeared is what we inevitability to nurture our line until at lowest possible one of us lands another full time post. (The opening bazaar within our nouns is horrendous)
We do own considerable equity contained by our home - I suppose a lein would be the state's best pick to support the amount they utter is owed
Since we don't live in/own material estate within MI, will they know how to put a lein on our Ohio home?
Answers:

Did you put up for sale a house surrounded by MI when you moved, and enjoy a huge profit? Other than that, $6000 doesn't engineer much sense. The dispatch should hold said something just about WHY they are clich¨¦ you owe that much.
Be sure to respond to the notification contained by the time given - otherwise you could forsake rights to appeal.

Actually Michigan's power stops at the border. They would own catch a court ruling afterwards a sister state pronouncement to profile against you in Ohio..Question is why do you owe in Michigan? You seem to be perplexed. If you lived within section of the year you should wallet a module year income toll return. If you didn't they may own done it for you below their procedures for non-filers. You can fix it by file a correct return which will show what you owe. Or don't.
