Messed up on my taxes HELP!?

I went to directory my taxes and did not know that my parents claimed me as a dependent. I was originally going to claim myself. When I go to file my taxes, I be ineligible to get my tuition money refund because my parents claimed me. Is there any track to fix this problem? Since my parents filed for their charge before I did. If i can, I draw from an additional $700 rear. I read about amendments, but I'm not sure if i qualify for it. Is in that any way that my parents can devolution the dependency, and I can add it onto my duty return?


Answers:    if you have already file the taxes, then you will inevitability to file an amended return. if you hold not filed them but then you cannot claim yourself if the parents claim you. one and only if you do not live at home and make your own money later you can file the amended. the irs will contact the parents and ask for proof of their claim. if they salary for college then you can't claim yourself.
if your parents are eligible to claim you, you cannot claim yourself, whether or not your parents in reality DO claim you.
If you parents did claim you, they should have claimed your tuition expenses on their return and should enjoy gotten an education credit for you.
