I would not read out Good Afternoon, you don't know when they will read this communiqué. A nice "Dear Mr XXX"
Do not identify yourself first, here is no inevitability.
I would influence something more along these lines:
Dear Mr. Jones,
I would resembling to thank you for your business and tolerate you know how much I appreciated serving you and your company. It be a pleasure serving you, please consent to me know if I can do anything for you in the adjectives.
As you know most business is secured through word of mouth, and I would approaching to ask you that if you know of anyone surrounded by obligation of my services that you surpass along my information to them.
Again, I would resembling to thank you for your business, please consistency free to contact me if you own stipulation of my service surrounded by the adjectives.

If someone doesn't want your services I don't muse they would refer you to someone. Also it doesn't come across as if your a worthy business if you cant get hold of the clients on your own, and enjoy to ask a former customer. I don't consider the memorandum is a suitable impression.
I would hold to agree next to the user above Porsha and Jerry. There is no necessitate to bother former customers to find strange ones. Odds are, if they weren't smiling next to your service, what make you have a sneaking suspicion that they'll refer unknown ones to you?
In adjectives honesty, if finding customers is difficult for you that you get the impression the stipulation to resort to sending post to historic customers asking for trial ones, I suggest it's time to achieve out of this business and find something spanking new.
