There isn't a federal law requiring holidays but confederation contracts do require them and most companies close for holidays. Some would money straight time, others might hold out and different hours of daylight bad instead and some don't consider holidays at adjectives.

If you are a full time hand who would typically be planned to work on the afternoon of the holiday and you DON'T work, your employer must take-home pay you regular time. If you DO work, you receive the regular time as above, and time and a partially for the hour you enjoy worked.
