For private grant, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription base website ($9.95 per month) but their initial blurb individual say that the database is just what the doctor ordered for "students, artists, scholarly researchers, libraries and financial aid office." Entrepreneurs are apparently not one of them, so I embezzle it they also don't own listings of private foundations who administer grant to would-be entrepreneurs.
