How do i make a purchase of an discarded house?
There is an abandoned house up the road from me,
from what i hear, the pre owner of the house was a criminal and he fled the country... the house is pretty run down but me and a couple of mate want to fix it up n live in it, so how would i be able to buy this house?
Answers: It's going to be tough if the owner really did exit the country. You're going to have to find him so that he can give you the creation to the house. If you don't find him, it will just go to foreclosure and be sold at auction.
If the owner is a criminal, I'm not sure I'd WANT to find him. You may want to agree to this one go and find another property - there's plenty of them available nowadays.
You may want to check the taxes to see if they own been paid. If not, budge to the tax sale and buy them. It take awhile, but you can eventually get the property for back taxes.
Otherwise, check next to the recorder's office to see who owns the property and make them an submit.
Also, some cities will take over abandoned property and after sell it to a third party.
You obligation to check with your local tax department first - see who legally owns it - then track that individual down to see if they even want to sell it - you can't buy something unless it's for sale :)
