What are my rights if I'm contained by an department lease aggreement but have numerous problems near rats, sewer leak, etc.
I am in a department lease aggreement right now and enjoy a remaining time of two years. We have be having numerous problems within regards to rats putting holes through our wall, and sewer discharge from next door neighbors. We hold complained numerous times to our lanlord but doesn't seem to support. We want to get out of our lease because it is fundamentally unhealthy environment. What are my rights as a tenant? Please give support to.
Answers: 1.) Check your lease agreement for the repairs and maintenance areas.
2.) Check beside your local landlord/tenant authority in regard to who is responsible in the crust where repair/maintenance is not spelled out surrounded by the lease.
In the case of sewer leaching and/or rats... both would be considered health risks and as such would MOST predictable be grounds to terminate the agreement. Seek trial counsel if you are unsure.
Usually you can spend up to 2 months rent fixing a problem. I'd call a local legitimate estate attorney and get a consult.
