Extra cheque from landlord/management?

So, here's the story. 2 months ago, my gf and I got charged twice for rent from our proprietor. They took out the amount from our account twice. We didn't hold enough to cover both transactions, and the sandbank returned the second charge with a NSF duty. We notified the direction that they charges us twice, and they said they'd reimburse us for the extra rent amount. We just in a minute got a cheque from them for $875, but that's not what the wall charged us. They only charged us $30.

Here's the quiz: do we take the cheque and lolly it, or notify the management of the mishap? Are their any officially recognized reprucussions from cashing the cheque? Could they come back and be paid us pay it posterior?

Answers:    While honesty is the best policy...its their fault..they give you the check.. Its a confusing situation.. I'd play dumb and cash it.
sign it over to them and capture them to charge it to your next months rent. or better nonetheless tell them you will present it back and purely credit to your rent. if they figure it out consequently they cant say you owe them money except then its free rent for a month,
