Apartments in close proximity or surrounded by Nashville. Good suburbs?

Does anyone know of any fitting suburbs within Nashville, TN? How is Brentwood? Does anyone recommend any other suburbs just round the corner?

Does anyone live right contained by Downtown Nashville? If so, how is the crime and the apartments?

I'm looking for an apartment and it MUST HAVE A GARAGE! Dryer and washer hook up's would be nice. I'd appreciate if anyone could recommend correct apartments and websites to them within Nashville, within Downtown Nashville, or contained by any suburbs in the neighbourhood nashville.
