Parent moving to hand to us?
My mother requests to move to impossible to tell apart town as us for familial reason. She is 62 and a widow. She is currently within a housing association house and doesnt reimburse any rent as her rent is remunerated for her through her pension, time of war widows allowance etc, housing benefit.
Our town is moderately expensive but we really stipulation her close by and she is desperate to move here too. The rented properties here are around the lb700-800 dot per month for a 2 bedroom property (my neice also lives near her). She think she will not know how to afford this amount per month, plus utility bills etc.
If she does an exchange beside someone surrounded by our town who desires to move to hers, does anyone know how housing associations work? Is here a waiting account, criteria to be met etc.
Or is in that any other road at adjectives - could she buy a mortgage at age 62?? near masses thanks

If she have a protected or assured habitation near her housing association (which most do) as challenging an assured shorthold residence, she can do a mutual exchange near any housing association or local authority tenant in the country. This is where on earth the two (or sometimes 3) tenant involved swop actual tenancy fairly than basically the properties. This would be difficult to arrange though because it would be knotty to find someone to exchange next to. She should ask her housing association if at hand is anyone on their waiting inventory from that nouns. Some are more agreeable than others so she might not seize any seventh heaven at hand but they may look it up and contact the other individual to see if they want an exchange. Its worth a try.
There are some criteria for mutual exchange, extremely contained by areas of big constraint. Both rent accounts own to clear, neither can hold have exploit taken against them for anti-social way of life, and the highest one is no underoccupation(i.e. if she wishes to move to a 2 bedroom property, the other hotelier may utter no as she individual have a 1 bedroom need). None of these criteria are set within canon so it is at the descretion of the housing associations involved.
Luckily though, abundantly of sheltered housing is difficult to agree to. It's worth getting on the waiting record She may not know how to move to the best subdivision of town and she will single catch a one bedroom flat (unless she is really lucky) but where she lives, sheltered housing is deeply immobilize and collectively a exceedingly pleasant place to live.
In the States, some properties hold what is call a "mother-in-law" apartment. It's a smaller dwelling on equal property as the major house. That's convenient if you own a relative that requests someone close by but you don't want them right contained by the home beside you adjectives the time.
I bring it you are surrounded by UK. How in the order of discussion to a couple of local housing associations www.housing.gov.org may minister to
or only just look up housing associations
Go directly to your local council housing department and explain the situation. There are moderately deeply of sheltered housing bungalows available for the over 50s adjectives over the UK and not greatly long waiting list.If she is already contained by a housing association property after it should be undemanding to exchange, again the housing organization should push for you.
