My father took my inheritance?
2 years ago when i was 19, i received 10,000$ inheritance. After only have it a few months my father pretty much made me give him it, otherwise I would have be forced to move out. He needed it for a "business venture" and promised I would get it back particularly soon after. Well surprise, surprise 2 years later he has not give me a penny. I still live at home and he even has the audacity to claim me as a dependent even though he def. does not pay for my academy, nor anything else! He is in bankruptcy immediately because he could not make the mortgage. My question is.do i hold any rights to try and get that money back? it is really heartbreaking he took this from me it be for my future! He pretty much laughs when ever i ask about it. Answers: Becky, here's what you do. If you don't have a job right very soon, get one, and save up 4-5k and move out. You shouldn't allow someone to own control over your finances. I don't care if he's family or a bf or a husband. You requirement to control your own purse strings.
Save up the money, move out, when you do move out, keep your expenses low and keep adding up to your savings so you will always enjoy freedom to do as you wish. When you have money whether its 5k and more within the bank to fall backbone on then you can do as you wish. Its nice have a safety cushion.
btw, you had 10k as an inheritance.You did not hold to give it to him, you could have taken that money and moved out next to it. Why didn't you do that? I don't think you have a skin when you gave him your money willingly.

I am sorry, but I don't think u can do much now. Especially if he is bust. You can try and sew him for the money, but then again he is your father. It sounds like you give it to him by choice in exchange for continuing to live at home.
