I know my husband is going to be at odds me on this, so I inevitability some correct reason why it's a righteous view?

Meijer is running a limited time promotion for the Economic Stimulous checks. They'll give you a coupon for $30 bad your next General Merchandise purchase for every $300 in Meijer payment cards you buy, up to $120. Basically, you are getting 10% back in coupons.

We do most of our shopping at Meijer anyway, & spend just about $900/month in groceries/household products. If we buy $1,200 in bequest cards & then use them ourselves to buy groceries etc, I could use the coupons to buy toilet paper, cleaning supplies and other non-grocery items. Basically I'm investing within our grocery bill in advance, & getting $120 within free household products.

Another thought: if I took the $1,200 & put it in a money market depiction, I'd only earn 3-3.5% over a year. If I spend the money at Meijer, I'll be earning 10% contained by 2-3 months. The money I would normally spend on groceries would go put money on into savings.

Any additional thoughts to convince my husband? Any thoughts on why this would be a desperate idea?

Thanks

Answers:    You are on the right track, and can maximize the savings long as you own a place to store it all and you only buy what you really stipulation. I saw something on CNN about people stocking up on groceries (pantry goods) because the costs of food is expected to rise (due to the glorious cost of fuel). If you don't redeem the coupons right away, as prices rise you will get less (but the notion is still a good one).
Remember - buy American products - put the money back to work contained by the USA!
Good Luck
It sounds like a good plan to me. It is one channel to make sure that the money is spent on things you need for everyday energy and not wasted on junk you can do lacking. logic deems as long as you are making the best use of "free money" then you're doing the right entry :)
