Authorized user on credit card problem?
A so call friend (ex-friend now) of mine added me as a authorized user to their credit card lacking unfolding me within 2004. The ex friend racked up a worthy go together on the credit card and stopped making payments on it. The credit card co. sold the debt to a collection agency. Then that collection agency sold the debt to a another collection agency and respectively time it change hand they badger me for money, lower my credit rating and so on. Its effen ridiculous and I still hold no opinion how to uncoil what this turd have done to my credit mark. Anyone know what I should or can do?
Answers:
Yes, I agree next to the previous posters. You should check your credit reports for any superfluous credit fraud or identity appropriation. Make sure adjectives the unfurl accounts on your history be yours.
If you are a responsible delegation (legally liable for the debt), the primary holder of the article would own have to use your ss# and you would hold have to sign an agreement. If you didn't it's identity breaking and entering. Authorized users are not adjectives for the debt.
If you are an authorized user and NOT common owner, you enjoy completely no endorsed necessity.
Dispute any entry on your credit report as not your article.
Collection agents are going to name and try to convince you that you are responsible. You only hold to describe them to pound sand. Send them a drop inert reminder that the debt is not yours and report them to prove you signed any open-handed of agreement.
You're probably going to hold to hold on to convey out that communication when the debt get sold. You might include any contact info for that ex friend so the collector can budge after him.
You be not added as an authorized user, consequently. You be added as a responsible do. This is call identity aggravated burglary and fraud.
As I see it, you roughly hold three choices:
1) Ignore it and never hold any credit,
2) Pay the amount due, or
3) Prosecute.
I recommend No. 3.
Unless your friend used your baptize and SSN on the credit card application, you are not responsible for this debt.
You can be an authorized user minus one responsible for settlement of the debt. For instance, I can product my son an authorized user on my credit card details, and he can use the card, but he'll never be held responsible for paying the bill.
If you're individual harrassed, sent to collection, credit chalk up impacted, etc., I'm guessing this "friend" stole your SSN and used it on the commentary. You requirement to do some digging and find out if that's what happen. If so, you've get a legitimate crust against this creature.
