$500k a year? What "class" would this be?

If someone makes $500,000 a year, has a $1.2 million dollar home, Ferrari's, etc... what class would they be considered?

Also, where on earth does middle class begin and end?

Answers:    It is adjectives speculative, but this is the best form that I have been exposed to contained by my consumer behavior class. And income and job title is the dominant factor in determining class

Upper upper class - prosperous group who inherited their wealth through their home
Lower Upper class - High Income like $500,000, that includes business owners, highly speicialized doctors/surgeons, etc.

Upper middle class - most average doctors, attorney, accountant, etc. over 100k
Middle-middle class- sale people, generally service orient, and also management. Not always service type job just dominated by service type jobs
Lower-middle class- Mostly labor type job, but still pays average.

Upper lower - Just barely above poverty, and labor skilled
lower lower - below poverty line
Class isn't other about money. Especially in heavily class driven societies resembling England.

Look up Michael Carroll. He's got (or had and wasted) more money than most can ever hope to see but not several people would say he be anything other than the lowest of the lower class chavs. At best, a person near money but no social grounding could be described as middle class nouveau riche... which is a term of disdain for many.

Class is also in the order of heredity and behaviour. Many who own no heritage or social influence are banded as Middle Class no matter how much money they have. Conversely, masses who have fallen on financial knotty times can be banded as Upper Class if they happen to be the 25th Earl of York and on first name expressions with the Queen and PM.
Middle class in the US roughly begin with a high college education, $21,000 in income, and $4,000 contained by assets...

It ends with around a Bachelors degree, $65,000 surrounded by income, and $450,000 in assets..
So that person would be within the upper class or top 5th percentile.
Definitely upper class, financially.

The middle class is pretty ambiguous, as it spans incomes from $25,000 to over $100,000.
middle class begin at 35k-75k upper class start at over 75k and 350k and up is the top 1% of all upper class.
