I believe my babe-in-arms have pink eye?

He woke up this morning near some pallid crusty stuff on his eyes. Now today he have what looks close to boogers coming out the corner of his eye. His eye is not pink but you can see that the goop stuff is near surrounded by the corner of his eye and the eye looks for a moment irritated. How do you achieve rid of this and does this nouns close to pink eye to you. I judge his eye is itchy too, he keep trying to chisel it. Does pink eye itch? Please help

Could be a sinus or upper respiratory or eye infection...bring the newborn to the doctor. The itchiness is from the infection.
