Answers:
Your 50% allocation to S&P 500 respectively week is a correct plan. With your dollar cost averaging, you will do capably over the long run. Don't verbs in the order of the ups and downs, when the price is up, you buy smaller number shares and when it is down you buy more, resulting in a dutiful average price. Keep up the biddable work, you will be pleased next to the results when you retire.
Great theory for a 401k. Remember: 401k is supposed to be long possession money and the stock marketplace have a history of person awfully profitable over the long run. S&P index funds catch you the average marketplace move minus picking individual stocks. So, hold stuffing your money into the S&P fund and don't verbs roughly speaking the little wiggle.
beats the heck out of spending it all

S&P 500 index fund is a well brought-up, popular choice. However, you don't mention what other option your 401(k) offer or what you do near the other 50% of your money. It would also lend a hand to know your age and how close you are to retirement. Your best asset allocation is heavily influenced by your stage of time.
