My mother lately passed away and have credit cards contained by her first name. Is my dad or myself responsible for this?

The credit cards were surrounded by her name singular and she had considerable debt. What happen now. Do we pay no attention to collectors? Can they sue us if we don't pay? What do we do?

Answers:    I'm exceptionally sorry for your loss...

Her "estate" is responsible for them, assuming she had a will. If not, the court will opt what she "owned" and what your father "owned", and if it all pass automatically to him or to you, then the debt will enjoy to be written off by the credit card company.

But ethically, if your father feel he & his wife owned half of their home respectively, then he should also take they held the debt equally.

Ignoring the collectors is the very worst entry to do, because then THEY agree on what happens subsequent, rather than you and your father.
Her estate is responsible. That will be clear if she gone a will. If not, it MIGHT be the responsibility of her nearest kin.
