How long until a personal check is cashed in the past it's cancelled?
I wrote a [rather large] check at the start of June that hasn't be cashed - is it voided after 90 days or something?
Answers:
Unless the check have an expiration date printed on it, it never properly expires. However, bank are never required to adopt checks they consider 'stale'. Most bank use 6 months as the cutoff.
No, but I'd phone who ever you wrote it to and ask why it have not be cashed.
According to bankersonline.com, six months.
"A bank is beneath no condition to a customer have a checking sketch to salary a check, bar a certified check, which is presented more than six months after its date, but it may charge its customer's statement for a gift made thereafter surrounded by honourable dependence."
Hope I could give a hand!
I come up with it's 60 or 90 days. One of those. Might depend on the sandbank.
A check is considered stale-dated after 6 months from the date on the check. A banker should take into custody that past they try to bread it because stale-dated checked almost other bring returned because of the date. Many business checks vote on the front of the check if they are cancelled after 60 or 90 days and oodles rebate checks don't even hold a date they simply voice "cancelled if cashed after XXX, 200X"
