What would be the impact/consequences if the Stock Exchange moved out of NY City ??
Answers:
The job of the floor traders on Wall Street would shift elsewhere. Not sure how lots folks are employeed nearby, but NY city would lose these job. That would motivation some financial impact to the city, mostly immediate restaurants, bar, hotels, etc. would not label as much money. If some other company eventually bought the building and started hiring, the effect would be minimal.
A lot of transactions are already becoming fully electronic. NYSE merged near Arca some time ago and everyone is chitchat more or less the demise of floor traders. The physical location of the exchange will concern smaller quantity and smaller amount but at hand would be no justification to move it out of NY anyway.
