18k gold ingots equals how tons grams?
Hi all,
I be wondering if someoen can tell me 14K, 18K, 24K as economically as 10K means how several grams? I mean
If I buy18K ring for exmaple How should I convert that contained by a gram so i can know how much i am paying per gram.?please let me know..

A Karat is 1/24 pure gold ingots by weight. Thus, 24K is considered pure gold ingots. The conversion/value of a gram gets a bit more complicated:
If 24K is pure gold ingots, then 18K is 75% gold ingots, 14K is 58% gold etc. Given an approx spot gold ingots price of 972/oz., scrap utility of One (1) gram of gold is as follows:
10K $12.31 per gram.
14K $17.00 per gram
18K $22.00 per gram
24K $30.00 per gram
Nice 10K gold ingots rings on ebay are going for $12-14 per gram, so this sorta proves out the table above. I haven't seen any 18K rings on ebay, but they would trade for at least $22 per gram.
I'm sure you'd foot significantly more money if you went to a commercial jewelry store, or a ring broker like Jostens, etc, probably twice more.
So, first weigh the ring, later compute. If a 18K ring weighs 10 grams, (at $22/gram from the table above), the capacity would be $220-$250 on ebay to probably at least twice that much from a contractor or jewelry store.
PS to Mike:
Check the stamping inside the ring to make sure it does not vote "GP" or "RGP" after the "K" because that means it's gold ingots plated and NOT the real entry. Mule
Carat is a weight (of a gem), Karat is a attraction of gold density, so you cannot convert an 18K gold ingots ring to a gram weight. The ring will hold a gram weight of its own, which you can compare for attraction within others of an 18K plus. The higher K rate way more gold surrounded by the makeup of the metal, and the value will be greater (although fundamentally high K is also soft, so could scrape or be damaged more easily).
