Mailing something overseas?

I'm from Australia, and mail something to the US. Got a few question to ask, mete out i've never done this past and dont wanna achieve stuck contained by the post bureau not knowing what im doing.
Ok, first, im mail a communication and a necklace (locket). it's one and only small, so is it competent to be mail within a majority envelope? or does it hold to sent some other special means of access?
Second, if im writing to the US, how do i write the address.
Would it be, for example:

John Smith
2387 Broadway avenue
New Orleans, Louisiana
United states 70124

Cause i honestly hold no thought.

bring it to post-office & ask them if a envelope is Ok or not for the necklace
to be precise the correct process to address it

i post to the USA sometimes
its better to own it correspondence through a courier.. resembling DHL or LBC or UPS... and it'll solely appropriate u a hours of daylight for it to be deliver to ur friend...
There should be a Post Office or 7eleven where on earth convient to post things out of the country
