One of the methods used to indicate standards of living among countries is the Human Development Index (HDI). You can look it up at this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/human_devel... . The factor used to create the index are time expentancy, literacy rate, and schooling power. The greater these numbers are, the sophisticated the HDI. According to the current HDI register, Norway, Iceland, Australia, Ireland, Sweden, Canada, and Japan (in order) own greater HDI's than the United States. (Notice how 3 Nordic countries are contained by that)

Another ascend, prearranged as the Human Poverty Index (HPI), measures the low lapse of countries. It uses the probability a entity will not survive to age 60, amount of inhabitants poor functional literacy skills, the percentage of relations beside below-average income, and amount of long-term job loss to create the index. The lower HPI a country have, the better sour it is. Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Finalnd, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Luxembourg, France, Japan, Belgium, Spain, Australia, and the United Kingdom (in order) own lower HPI's than the United States. Look up on the HPI at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/human_pover... .
