How do Shares (australia) work?

hi,

Lets say I have $200 000.
1 Rio Tinto Share costs $100, and i buy 2000 shares.
After two months, the price of 1 Rio Tinto rises to $140.

So after the two months I flog my shares, does this mean I have profited $80 000 ($280 000 - $200 000)

This is excluding brokerage, and due.

Is this right, or do I need to know something else?

Thanks

Answers:    that's right and that how the share trading works. but be sure to take notional interest and other expenses also while calculating profit
