SEP, IRA etc?

I am interested in investing in these for retirement. Besides investing in stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, what else can I put the money in these funds towards? ie Can I buy a house beside it to rent out, or an apartment, or commodities next to it?
Also, can I get by them myself? or do I own to enjoy a financial planner or regulating me? Thanks

I would be in motion near a fully funded roth ira, above that mutual funds to roughly 15% of your income to retirement. i consider sep is for self employed. don't invest in stocks or bonds. they are too risky for retirement. divide your mut. funds as 25% growth, 25% growth and income, 25% aggressive growth, 25% international. if a broker tell you you can't handle your own money, go and get away from that idiot. you can and should opt where on earth your money is going. go to daveramsey.com and click on elp to take a enumerate of family within your nouns who will instruct you as you invest. they can be trusted to assist you. after you are 59 1/2 you can hold the money out of retirement for anything. authentic estate is correct as long as it is PAID FOR otherwise your rent is going to the wall and not to your portrayal. check out that website you'll be glad you did!
