Should companies in equal industry own approximately same required rate of return on investment projects?

Answers:
No. The rate of return have to be a function of the specific project, not the industry as a complete.
The rate of return on your investment projects depends a large amount on heaps other factor. As long as you hold to your commitments and run a tight control on your budget and adjectives other expenses, you'll see the muted at the far wrap up of your investment tunnel. Good Luck.
The required rate of return is from the investors perspective. I have a sneaking suspicion that you suggest the expected return. My inference is that, using the wealth asset pricing model, if the betas for respectively of the companies within an industry be approximately duplicate afterwards the expected return would be also.
