I might know how to aid, but this stuff is confusing.

The 4.97% is the nominal let go and is what you would be salaried if the cd didn't accrue interest.

The 5.1% is the annual percentage concede which is the rate you receive if the 4.97% accrue interest monthly for a year.

For example, a $1,000 disc would earn (4.97%/12*1000) contained by the 1st month. This equals $4.142. The second month you would be earn like peas in a pod interest rate (4.97%/12), but very soon your multplied sum is $1004.142). If you did this for 12 months your closing moments harmonize would be $1,051 or 5.1% ((1051-1000)/1000)

For a 4 month occupancy disc you would earn 4 months interest on your investment.
Here is how to numeral the actual surrender on a 4 month disc:
Easy Way = 5.1%/3 = 1.7%

Hard Way = ((4.97%/12) + 1) ^ 4 = 1.7%
Your APR (annual percentage rate) is compounded day after day. 1/365th of your 5% is rewarded and added on a daily basis. Meaning $100 + 1/1000 of a percent will be $100.00035. (just making up the numbers) Even though it is a tiny, tiny amount of money added respectively time, your principal is effectively larger which will payment for a while bit more than it did yesterday. That is why your Annual Percentage Yield is a touch bit complex.

I own hear online bank are offering 5.5% and better. Maybe Washinton Mutual. If you can will your money alone for 6 months or longer, consider a disc.
