Who determines the price for an after hours stock trade?
Presumably the marketplace maker own gone home. And where on earth exactly are these trades made, since the bazaar have closed?

After hours trades are made on the ECN (Electronic Communications Network.) They are check instructions. Typically the bids are populace responding to after hours word. Or traders trying to capture a big swing. Since you can't see the behaviour and know the bid or ask of other traders the spreads are regularly full-size.
