You can justifiably own stock the moment you are born. To buy a stock, however, you hold to enjoy a contractual relationship, and since minors can't variety contracts, no broker will permit minors start accounts. Someone else have to buy the stock and provide it to the minor, if not set up a trust fund sketch for the minor.
