If I put 3 million contained by the hill what will appear if the dune closes or burns down or robbery or w/e.?
Will I be screwed. I remember a teacher said that the gov't insures it up to 200,000. Is this correct? Should I divide it up among several bank?

A. It's only insured up to $100,000
B. Why hold so much in CASH? Why not invest within the stock market, or some tax-free municipal bonds?
Here's an thought. You can go to some of the big brokerage firms ------- they "broker" CDs and can buy them at seriously of different banks for you.
Buy a $100,000 disc at one bank, $100k at another and so on..The brokerage firm can progress "shopping" for you.
But i would recommend investing in Insured, Tax-Free Municipal bonds. You'll grasp about indistinguishable interest rate and avoid paying Federal Taxes and some State Taxes on the interest.
