Are First Trust section investment trusts as worthy or better than ETFs and mutual funds?
Answers: They can be as good or better. They work differently though. Look at the difference and budge with what you consistency comfortable with.
They ALL can be great!
UIT's are much different than Mutual Funds or ETF's. It is far-reaching to understand this. first of adjectives a UIT once created has a parenthood date in which the assets are liquidate or rolled into another UIT. Once created they are not actively managed so if the underlying assets turn down then so to does your UIT. Where as a MF have the ability to put up for sale out of a possition inside the fund. UIT's also have to surpass through 95% of the capital gain to the investor so there are charge issues to consider. However with that said. UIT's when properly allocated can add on alpha to a portfolio.
Hope that helps.
