What do you know in the order of E.T.F.?

Canadian Market repeatedly offer E.T.F. Could anyone transmit me what they are and how to find out more going on for them ?

Answers:
I trade these deeply.

They are approaching mutual finds except they trade adjectives sunshine and the price floats adjectives morning. You can play option on some of them also.

The most "famous" ETF is the "spyder" as they appointment it. It trades (on US exchange) beneath the symbol SPY. It tries to track the plus of the S&P 500 index (it does it pretty well). Actually respectively share is worth 1/10 of the merit of the S&P 500. Example, today the S&P500 closed at. 1447.12. The later trade for symbol SPY be 144.93 (close enough).
Another one I similar to is XLE. It is base on an index of big grease companies.
VGK is base on an index of European stocks.
XAU say it tracks the price of gold ingots (AU= Atomic symbol for gold ingots, cute, huh?)

Two things to keep watch on for are,
#1 Expence ratio (how much the guys that run the ETF bear for themselves). Try to pick ETFs next to expence ratio smaller number than 0.2%.
#2 Some ETFs don't track what they read aloud they do. USO say it tracks the price of grease but it have drifted approach bad.

I travel to nouns.yahoo.com, underneath investing they own lots of ETF stuff. Yu can find the expence ratio, what companies they hold by percent, more.

A few years ago within be, I don`t know 50 of them. Now I bet near are 500+.

Hope this help.

ETFs are cheaper than mutual funds. ETFs own vastly low annual expenses, nearly 20 spring points or 0.2% smaller quantity. As against this, actively manage mutual funds show average expenses exceeding 135 reason points (1.35%). This does not include the extra 2% - 5% as loads, 12(b)-1 marketing fees, transactions costs, and soft dollar expenses mutual funds, passed on to you but never informed, except in greatly fine print that nobody care to read.
