All the best to you.
If the insurance company know about it even if they didn't pay out a penny expect it to affect your rates. A few years ago my wife (before we be married) had some minor damage to her motor, she hit a speed limit sign, and unwisely called the company. We subsequently decided not to repair the car as I have 2 cars so we gave hers to a nephew. Her rates still went up. Wish the resource her is adjectives for your question,It is working for me.Have a look,it is a good one as far as my expertise.http://car-insurance.easyideas4u.info/re...
If your policy paid out, it can affect your rates, depending on how much it paid out.

If it didn't foot out, it won't affect the rate.
Help yourself. You can easily check how your quotes will change contained by internet, for example here: http://autoinsurance.hotusa.org
I guess if you inform them, then your rates will go up. it shouldn't effect it too much but depending on what features of pole it was (if it was knock over) they might make you pay for the pole!
