What is a cancelled check?
Answers: It means the check has be cashed already. There will be stamps on it from the payee's bank that it was deposited or cashed, consequently also stamps from your bank that it was official (you had the money in your account) and the money have been transferred to the payee's bank.
Also, on the bottom, subsequent to your routing # & account # there will be the compelling numbers of the amount the check was written for.
This is of course if you the gift was not done electronically the way the phone company & abundant credit cards do now.
If the payee is asking for a copy of the cancelled check, this will prove payment to them. Your sandbank should have the check scanned surrounded by their system, or you should have received your cancelled checks in your ridge statement (not many do this anymore). Call you bank & ask for a copy. They shouldn't charge for this service but may.
It's when you write a personal check and income with it. Then you cancel it through your wall so the money doesn't get taken out. payments no longer exist or payable
