May I assume you're discussion more or less a cell phone?
I would recommend calling the carter and finding out if they'll insure it (because that's who you'd be discussion to if you broke it or lost it).
I know my cell possessor (ATT/Cingular) won't insure a phone if its more than 30 days matured, and it must be the artistic owner who does it.
