Are in that any disadvantages to one covered by 2 condition insurance policies?

I am currently covered by my husband's VERY GOOD form insurance. However, in a minute that I enjoy reach the 5-year anniversary at my current errand, I am eligible to unite my company's insurance for free (no premiums). The lone piece is... it sucks. It's a straight PPO, no preventative watchfulness, everything covered at 80%/20%, no pre-existing condition coverage. I would similar to to stay on my husband's plan, but associate my employer's plan as economically as a back-up surrounded by casing anything main happen. Can I do this? Are at hand any disadvantages if the "bonus" policy is completely free? Do I choose who my primary insurance is, or do the insurance companies? What else do I entail to know?

Thank you so much for your sustain.

The insurance companies will other treat your plan as primary to you. Your husbands plan will be a hindmost up when you exhaust your plan. There is no existing well brought-up source to do this..As a issue of reality, this could hurt you because your benefits are smaller number rich than your husbands..
There are no disadvantages. Emergency and spur-of-the-moment nurture visit will cost you $0. One picks up the regular cost and the other your $50 copay. Very nice.

Could work like for you regular doctors call round and when you hold surgery you husbands insurance will pick up the 20% you be going to enjoy to retribution.

Do it, do it, do it.
First past its sell-by date, your insurance is primary. It is not an prospect. Whatever is gone after your insurance pays should be picked up by your husband's insurance. Sometimes it is writtten rotten by the provider as a contractual agreement. Either style, you are covered 100%. In the crust where on earth you know your PPO won't cover services rendered, you will obligation to follow your husband's guidelines (If PPO-use their PPO providers-if HMO-get medical group auth and use HMO providers). Your provider will bill your insurance for the denial and afterwards bill your husband's insurance for the full amount. You will one and only be responsible for any deductibles or co-pays on your husband's insurance. If it is 100% coverage, you owe nought. Check your husband's insurance to see what their co-ordination of benefits policy is. That will communicate you if have your own condition insurance is truly worth it. It can be a hassle if you own PPO and your husband have HMO.

**EDIT: As I stated above-your insurance MUST be primary for you-this is not something you can choose. E-mail if you hold any specific question. I'll try to lend a hand
The usual disadvantage is, plans ingetrate their payments. In other words, you won't get 100% coverage. Once you work through adjectives the numbers, its usually expensive to own two plans. Since yours is free, shift for it. Keep his as primary. Before you do anything though, read the Coodination of Benefits Section in your husbands Summary Plan Description of Benefits.
There are alot of advantages to have 2 insurance policies. First of adjectives your insurance shipper is going to be primary for you since you are the hand on that plan. Your husbands plan will be minor. You own no choice contained by this. Since your plan is free you own nil to lose. What you will want to find out from your husbands insurance company is how they coordinate benefits. There are 2 ways to coordinate..one is standard 100% and the other is conventional liability. If they are a standard 100% plan they unsophisticatedly pick up the go together after your primary (your insurance) pays. If they hold everyday liability however it can receive complicated. A regular liability policy will never settle up more than they usually would pay packet if you did not own other insurance. For example, if your plan have 80% coverage and your husbands plan also have 80%, your inferior will not salary the difference. If your husbands plan have 90% coverage and your plan have 80% later they would pick up 10%. Many times ethnic group dont apprehend how common liability works and it is a throw away to own a subsidiary shipper, however since your coverage is free you are not losing out on anyting by taking it. Also as long as you enjoy have continuous coverage your insurance possessor cannot brand name you subject to pre-existing as long as you enjoy no more than a 63 sunshine lapse within coverage. They cannnot deny you for a pre-existing condiiton. Bottom strip is embezzle the insurance..it is free and you will not obtain any smaller number of a benefit than you hold presently next to merely 1 owner.
There are alot of advantages to have 2 insurance policies. I found interesting information around your answer here. http://all-insurance-online.blogspot.com... Good luck!
Your group insurance will be your primary and your husband's insurance will be his primary.

If you enjoy any children, the parent whose birthday shows up first contained by the year will be primary for the children and the other lesser.

Unfortunately you cannot choose which will be primary. By have two policies and especially if yours is free, it's a uncompromising win/win situation. Your coverage will essentially be 100%.

My husband and I did that for our dental coverage. We can't afford the premium from both employer at this time, but surrounded by a couple years we will be capable of and plan on going near both group robustness coverage plans at that time.
