How do you follow up after you enjoy submitted a dispute on the subject of something on your credit report?
I recently mailed some documents to dispute an item on my credit report. I received a phone give the name from an automated service stating that my request had been received and my dispute should be completed contained by 14days. Don't really know where to go from here, or what the possible outcomes may be. Ive tried looking online but it seem i am looking in all the wrong places.
Answers: If you disputed it near the credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TU), they have 30 days from the date of filing the dispute to hear from the collection agency/creditor to prove the debt. If they cannot do so in this 30 day time, the item MUST be removed from your credit report. It will still take some time for the bureaus to remove the item from your report, generate a new report near a letter explaining the action, and attain it into your mailbox. There is really nothing else you can do at this point.except wait for the e-mail.
If you filed the dispute with the collector, that's another story entirely. I've never hear of a credit bureau calling you with an automated message stating they received your dispute, which makes me wonder if you're chitchat about them, or a collector.
Regardless if the dispute is granted or denied, you will hear from the bureau. If a change be made, they will send you a new credit report.
Once they acknowledge account of your complaint it may take several months before it is resolved. You will acquire something in the mail.
