Cleaning up the Credit Report?

I have been cleaning my credit report for the final two yrs and things are going well. then BOING ! some vastly old bill from Verizon shows up as a collections item on all three agencies.
My Question: If I settle the bill in total ($127.00) can I then seize it taken off of my credit reports right away or will it be out there for the subsequent seven yrs as history?
If I can get it erased by paying it off, what are the steps assuming the first step is paying it?

Thanks

Answers: The first step IS NOT paying it - hunt online for "pay for delete".

The first step is to find a sample pay-for-delete dispatch and customize it to your situation, and send it to the creditor.

Upon their agreement to that, by accepting your payment, their agreeing to remove it from your credit report.
Negatives can simply be reported for 7-1/2 years from the date of first deficiency. So how long ago did you stop paying this bill? Is it really yours?

Zombie debt collectors frequently do skip traces and will put derogatories on your file if the christen is similar.

It is very likely that you will know how to settle this for much less and get a pay cheque for delete. Send them a letter offering to pay 20% to expedite removal of the item from your credit report. Do not acknowledge the debt -- literally say-so "this is not an acknowledgment of this debt".

Ask that an authorized agent for the collection agency sign and return a copy of your letter indicating acceptance of your propose. Upon receipt of their acceptance, you convey payment and they delete the item.

Don't give them direct access to your dune account. Save the settlement agreement along with your giving proof, forever.
How old is the verizon bill ? If it is seven years, don't pay it, and you will soon be capable of get this deleted from you report. If not , if you prefer to pay this bill, it will stay on your report for another seven years from the date of last hum, unless you can make arrangement with them to settle your explanation and put paid in full or rewarded as agree. You can pay it, and then you may be capable of get it off contained by the next few years, by disputing it validity. Typically after you own paid an account past its sell-by date, the purge the account in their system. Usually ancient bill pop up for some odd reason ask if they will lug it off your report, they usually take 30-45 days to come past its sell-by date your report and they are supposed to get you a letter proverb you paid it and that they will take it bad your credit report. Then they usually say if it not off by the date they hand over you call them and they will get it stale for you
Try a pay-for-deletion letter scenario to the applicable credit agency.

Please send missive certified to the agency to evidence your seriousness in resolving this matter without delay.

It won't be erased but it will show as remunerated which is better then it sitting in cynical. may still show up but it will be shown as paid
Go to daveramsey.com. He has a radio show and can answer adjectives of these kind of questions. First congratulations on a post well done! Next, I would first get a update copy of adjectives three reports to make certain within is nothing else to appear and check the memory bank for any recent mishaps that may take reported. This is to prevent going around in circles.

Now that you have checked your recent reports from All three, and it is still a short time ago the $127.00, put your request in writing to the creditor regarding your desire to pay-off the sketch.

Before you actually pay them bad, obtain a letter within writing from THEM that they will acknowledge your pay-off and when the will have this reported to the credit bureaus.

This gives you something trial to work with given they don't live up to their end of the barter. At the same time, they want that account remunerated off and will be willing to work next to you.

One more thing, before paying this statement off, even with your memorandum from them stating their regards as far as the conditions of your pay-off, "Ask for a discount on your pay-off." Glad that you are paying it off within total, you can get some type of discount of your balance due. At lowest most of the time.

Good Luck to you:-)
