Bankruptcy ask.?
I made a very irresponsible decision put a bet on in January and that was to procure $40,000 worth of plastic surgery. I have body dismorphic disorder and its extremely distressing to me. I know it's not an excuse for my behaviour but it is a atleast a apology.
I really thought I was going to be able to hold on to up with the payments, and so far I have. I enjoy paid back $3,600 so far. But I ruined to realise at the time just how large the payments be going to be. I am paying over $1,200 a month to my credit card company to pay it off. I clear only $36,000 a year and this is adding up to anyone 2/3 of what I make in a year. I own no money for food or anything else.
I consulted 2 different lawyers on the subject and each said I call for to wait between 6-12 months before file bankruptcy after such a large debt accrual.
But 6-12 months is a really broad list.
Can anyone give some advice, please?
Answers: Your attorney is trying to prevent the liquidation from being tossed out.
When you make a huge loan of this character, then fail to settle after only a couple of months, it looks extremely suspicious.
Using your credit card to pay this debt is also silly. You may want to look into a personal loan, or better all the same a home equity loan (if you own a home). The interest rates are pretty low right now, but they are also difficult to get due to the current mortgage crisis.
Wish I could present you better advice. But your attorney is correct...try to hold out a few months if you can.
use a consumer credit counceling agency to get a smaller recompense, then look into a bankruptcy...look out you man not pass the means trial based on income. It's based on income and the number of dependents you enjoy.
