Here is a correlation to the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.read it thoroughly and as expected and see if anything applies to your situation.

http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdc...

Then if you find that you are one violated consequently move about folder a complaint next to the Federal Trade Commission. Here is that knit:

And...don't earnings any mind to Gerald. He is an idiot and more than predictable a debt collector. Read Up Gerald..consumers DO HAVE RIGHTS and collectors MUST FOLLOW TO THE BOOK the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
File a complaint beside the attorney generals organization and CC it to them.
You can complain to the FTC or your state attorney nonspecific. However, be aware that once you failure to pay on a debt, the imperative is strongly worded to favor the creditor over the debtor, so unless they are threatening to assassinate you or something close to that, they probably aren't doing anything unsanctioned.
Pay your bills and dont spend more than you fashion, afterwards you wont enjoy these problems.
The state where you live regulates collection agencies. Most collection hard work leak below a statute of limitations within other words collection agencies enjoy a constant time interval to collect a debt. If you settle anything on the debt the clock ticks from the finishing giving received.

A lot of collection agencies are getting aggressive on elder debts, so know your rights!

Under organization agencies within your phonebook should be an organization for collection agencies, if send for the Revenue department and they should know how to recount you.
I'd natter to an attorney within your nouns. Credit reporting and debt collection is regulated by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Check out the website and see if the collection agency is violate any of the rregulations. http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdc...
The BBB is no threat. The threat is to you. They want the money you owe---all of it today. Mail it to them and they will depart... They can and will give somebody a lift control of adjectives your ridge accounts and investments... Then they budge to your employer and Garnish (((force your boss to hold the money )) from your wages... They hold already ruined your credit rating..There is nought you can do going on for this---except pay packet the bill contained by full.Pay presently or suffer the consequences.
First dont listen to Fat Albet, he is making a complete A;s out of him self powerfully a short time ago look at his signature. The BBB is nought, they will Do nought. Get adjectives of your ducks contained by decree type up a complaint near the FTC and you Attorney generals department near a time procession of events beside adjectives of the documents supporting them. I would first send for that Jerk and make clear to them that you hold proof of unprincipled practices, therfore you are going too the FTC beside adjectives of my documation. They may settle later YOU must carry that contained by writing.. They win spooked when you metioned the FTC .

Good luck
As Cali-Gal said, read the FDCPA.
http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump...

Read the statutes themselves.
http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdc...

And read the staff assessment junk mail.
http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/let...

Gerald is correct that the BBB tend to be a serious newspaper tiger, but Gerald is an idiot to suggest you don't hold rights. The FDCPA provides rights regardless of whether the money is owed or not. It govern the behavior of debt collectors. I guess reading still isn't skilled contained by debt collector college, on the other hand my 6 year matured is promptly mastering reading.

Might also try your state AG's bureau. Their consumer division should know how to administer at most minuscule some rudimentary info in the order of state law, if within are any, regulating debt collectors in Missouri.

In a nutshell, never confer to a debt collector on the phone, and other grasp it within writing. Otherwise it didn't come to pass.
