Is it run of the mill for a credit card to ask for a copy of your SS#Card??
I applied to Hooters Mastercard online and lately call them to check the status of my application. The female said the credit dept. sent me out a reminder asking for a copy of my Social Security card and a copy of a utility bill. She said I could fax it or communication it. Is this middle-of-the-road??

I've never hear of a credit card company asking for a copy of any christening. They may want the numbers but don't ask for a copy. This seem strange, I'd check the better business bureau to see if at hand are complaints against them.
maybe ssn # i dont know almost copy of it ..i wouldnt do it if i be you
Absolutely
they unanimously will ask you for your ssn i own never hear of asking for a copy of it. unless you did provide them next to your ssn and their be an issue next to it. they enjoy to see your credit history contained by charge to approve you. so they entail your ssn to verbs your credit report. i will send for and ask if you can newly supply them your number. i would be a touch worried roughly speaking sending a copy of your card in the communication.
Don't do that. Someone is scaming you and trying to engender ersatz IDs. Giving out you SSN on splash is NOT a correct model.
The one and only foundation they could be asking for this is because something doesn't include up - the SS# you give doesn't contest near the address etc. However, I would never fax my social surety card - is this MasterCard worth the hassle?
I WOULD however get hold of a copy of my credit report if you haven't lately to verify that adjectives of the information is correct. You can procure a free copy from respectively bureau for no charge at annualcreditreport.com (this is the one and only authorized site)...
I suggest you dissolve the application adjectives together. Go into any wall where on earth they own a master card and apply. If in attendance is a problem, you can stir into the wall and discuss it beside a rep.. You enjoy no view how much fraud is out in that today. Better to be nontoxic than sorry latter. If you have a feeling uneasy, I would put a Fraud Alert on for 90 days. You can hail as Trans Union Fraud Dept toll free (a) 1-8OO-680-7289.
