Check not cashed, former employer sent it to the State of California - relief??

I be outsourced from my assignment within 2003, go to another company. Recently I spoke to my ripened boss and she informed me I have never cashed my overtime check, said the payroll dept have to dispatch it to the State of California since they could not locate me.

My final payroll come contained by two checks, one for regular retribution, and one for OT (this one I did not see).

If the OT check be sent the the State, does anyone know how I budge roughly speaking (who to call upon, what department) trying to locate this money? I own not have much luck trying to G00GLE this, and other answers here appear to point to the employer to re-issue. However, my former employer cannot re-issue the check since they sent it (where required by law) since I have not cashed it.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Try to use this website http://www.unclaimedfundstreasurehunt.oh... and you may competent to look for the State of California for your uncashed check.
Check near the Bureau of Unclaimed Property. Get on California Department of Revenue--then look for the Bureau of Unclaimed Property. Pennsylvania have one; I can one and only assume other states hold them too.
